AEO accreditation and Brexit

09 December 2019 by Edward Martin

AEO Accreditation

The AEO status is an internationally recognised quality mark that shows:

  • role in the international supply chain is secure
  • customs controls and procedures are efficient and meet EU standards

The AEO status is not mandatory, but gives quicker access to some simplified customs procedures and, in some cases, the right to ‘fast-track’ shipments through some customs and safety and security procedures.

How will Brexit have an impact?

Brexit will inevitably impact the movement of goods between the UK and the EU. However, the stories that have been fashioned about long waits at the borders and traffic that queues for miles, might not pose such a problem for JJX.

Having worked hard to obtain the AEO accreditation will give JJX great benefits when crossing borders. The UK government has estimated that UK customs border entries may increase fivefold. It’s anticipated that where there are clearance hold-ups at the port, businesses with AEO will be given priority. Therefore, allowing JJX to ensure delivery of express solutions, just-in-time consignments, and perishable goods.

With JJX Logistics’ European Scheduled Network a secured flow of goods is guaranteed, even if/when a no-deal Brexit is confirmed.
